Past Events
Networking events are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month. In the past, we have invited inspirational speakers from business, enterprise and the not-for-profit sectors, we have provided skills for personal development , and we have held table networking events - all to keep the activity varied.
Our events in the last year are listed below.

Christmas Frolics!
Date: 09 December 2008
Venue: Cafe Mao, 84 Brunswick Street, G1 1TD
Description: We met at Cafe Mao for an evening that helped us to forget about our pressures and stresses, at least for a few hours!
Before our meal, we were very lucky to have the services of an expert who demonstrated the art of cocktail-making. We had plenty of time to decide on our own personal favourite before sitting down to enjoy once again the culinary delights offered by Cafe Mao!
An evening at the Tron
Date: 11 November 2008
Venue: The Tron
Description: We met at a slightly earlier time for networking and a buffet, then attended the opening night at the Tron of Reeling & Writhing's "Hannah & Harvey". After the show, we reconvened for coffee and to continue networking, while those who wished attended a post-show discussion where we were able to discuss the play with the author, the director, two of the cast and the composer of the musical score. Truly an evening with a difference!

Networking Dinner
Date: 14 October 2008
Venue: Metropolitan, 5 Candleriggs, G1 1NP
Description: A well attended event where both members and guests took full advantage of the opportunity to network and promote their business. The ice-breaker at the beginning proved very popular, with people even preferring to complete their 'bingo card' rather than sit down to dinner! The table switching between courses again proved very successful.

AGM & Talk: Nature or Nurture?
Date: 09 September 2008
Venue: Menzies Hotel, 27 Washington Street
Description: After our AGM we were treated to a very unusual mother and daughter presentation from Ann Rushforth and her daughter Mhairi. Ann's company, Scotnursing, has grown from a turnover of £25,000 in its first year to its current turnover of £16 million, while Mhairi, at the age of 23, runs her own company, Halo Nurseries with 5 nurseries and over 50 staff. They each described how they ended up running their own companies and left us to ponder the question : is it all in the genes or did nurture also have a role to play in Mhairi's decision to be an entrepreneur?

Date: 12 August 2008
Venue: Dragon-i, 311 Hope Street (opposite Theatre Royal)
Description: Jane Meneely of Hypostyle Architects gave us a very interesting insight into what goes on behind the scenes when you are an architect. She also gave a very honest and amusing account about how she actually ended up as an architect! She finished by talking briefly about her firm's work in Abu Dhabi and about how she is still finding new challenges in her work.

July event
Date: 08 July 2008
Venue: Windows Restaurant, Carlton George Hotel, 44 West George Street
Description: We were delighted to welcome Louise Dalziel from Matchless Content as our speaker. Louise gave us a quick resume of her career, telling us how a degree in zoology opened the doors of the BBC for her!
She then gave us an insight into the factors which convinced her to leave the BBC after 21 years, during which time she had initiated and produced a wide range of broadcast output for various networks in the BBC. We were then treated to a jargon-free, easy to follow talk about pod and vodcasts, and how they can be used to add value to our websites.
