The HMRC Making Tax Digital initiative will become mandatory for all businesses for VAT this coming April, and is likely to be mandated for all other taxes in 2020.

So what does this mean for you?

Keeping up with your VAT and tax returns can be a challenge at the best of times, particularly if you are self-employed or run a small business, and changes to the rules and reporting methods can creep up and catch us out.

Helen Jamieson, Senior Manager of Indirect Tax at EY, will be taking us through what you need to do to make sure your business is ready for this major change. Helen has a broad range of experience from a VAT perspective across a number of sectors, with an understanding of the key risk areas and how to identify these. She trained at HMRC prior to her 12 years working in practice, and brings that experience and insight to help us navigate the new procedure.

Helen is ably assisted by her colleague Siobhan Blunden, Manager in EY’s Indirect Tax team, who is a qualified Chartered Accountant and ICAS Tax Professional, working on a wide range of clients in the public and corporate sectors.

Sandwiches, tea and coffee will be provided; please indicate your dietary requirements when booking.

Booking closes at 5pm on Tuesday 29th January, so make sure you secure your place at this valuable training event.
