Becoming More Significant with Sylvia Baldock

Becoming More Significant’

Masterclass for Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs

“Don’t focus on becoming successful, work towards becoming significant and success will naturally follow” Oprah Winfrey

Many business leaders and Entrepreneurs have all the trappings of success and yet feel unfulfilled and isolated.

All of us suffer from the ‘Imposter Syndrome’ at different times in our lives and may wonder when we are going to be ‘found out! This can paralyse us from stepping out of our comfort zone and tapping into the unlimited potential we all possess.

Becoming more significant is all about recognising our own unique skills and talents and feeling so secure in the value we bring to the workplace that we in turn, strive to make others more significant.

A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives.”
― Jackie Robinson

Appreciating the unique value individuals bring to the workplace produces a culture of collaboration where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and to become a ‘leader’ in their area of expertise. They are encouraged to take ‘ownership’ and are part of a shared vision, goals and purpose.

Being enabled to play to their natural strengths, sparks up creativity in their area of expertise. They will spot opportunities that others miss and start solving problems like never before secure in the knowledge that they are being valued as an ‘expert’ in their field.

So how significant are you?

The dictionary definition of ‘significant’ is –

sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy’.

  • So, what makes you worthy of attention?
  • How do you develop and share your unique value?
  • How do you deal with the uncertainties of change?
  • How do you build TRUST with your colleagues, clients and prospects?
  • How do you make them feel appreciated and valued?
  • How do you maximise your potential?

When you know the answers to these questions and truly believe in the value you have to share, you can start to become more visible from a position of real authenticity.

This is a transformational workshop for Leaders and Entrepreneurs who want to increase resilience, confidence, communication, collaboration, decisiveness, motivation, productivity and growth.

We will address the following -

  1. Who are you really? Recognising yourself at a deeper level. Uncovering long forgotten strengths, passions and characteristics. A deep dive into the real ‘YOU’ to build a powerful Personal Presence from a position of real authenticity.
  2. Learn how to fully appreciate your own value and become much more supportive of the rising talent in your business, nurturing a culture that builds collaboration, transparency, ownership and TRUST.
  3. Bringing your ‘A’ game – physical, mental and emotional growth that ensure you bring the best version of ‘YOU’ to every interaction.
  4. ‘Living’ your Legacy by sharing your unique value to effect lasting change and transformation right now.

Sylvia will share her top tips on increasing your Personal Impact right now by explaining –

  • How to recognise, celebrate and share your uniqueness
  • How to develop your confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem
  • How to make the right 1st impression every time.
  • How to be seen as an ‘expert’ in your field.
  • How to be remembered for all the right reasons.

Message from the President

Message from the President

I hope everyone is staying safe and productive through the last few weeks, and the new ‘normal’ is starting to fall into place. I’ve certainly settled into a new routine working from home and if nothing else at the end of this I’ll be a zoom/teams/skype expert! Although it may be hard to focus on right now, I believe there will be some big positives which will come out of our current situation further down the line. So I’m keeping a positive attitude which is helped by daily exercising, never thought I’d be an advocate for running – but I am and I love it!

As I’m sure you have seen on the news, we’ve quite a way to go yet with the restrictions not looking likely to ease up anytime soon, and with this in mind the committee have decided to
extend all current memberships for a period of three months.
This will happen automatically on your memberships and there’s nothing you need to do to action this at all, but applies to all current memberships only, I’m afraid we can’t backdate anything.

We have been working hard as a committee to provide a space for you to connect, collaborate and communicate digitally and we have decided to keep the coffee mornings going online a couple of times a month for the moment, so please do join us at those. We have also brought together a programme of events, some business focused, some a bit lighter to try and accommodate everyone and give a little respite, and hopefully some fun, to our members. If there is anything you would like to see an online event on from us, or if you would be keen to contribute something yourself please get in touch with myself at president@scottishwomeninbusiness.org.uk and we’ll do our best to make it happen. All event dates are available HERE, these will be added to regularly so please keep yourself up to date with them.

Awards – with the current situation, we have rescheduled the SWIB Awards event to next year: Sunday 21st February 2021. Our host – Michelle McManus, Venue – Grand Central are confirmed and everything else will go ahead as planned, so please put the date in your diary and we’ll be in touch soon.

Hopefully I’ll see you at some of our online events, until then please take care and keep in touch!

All the best,

Debbie Shields
SWIB President
