We have been members of SWIB for 8 years and think it is an excellent group of hard working business women. No matter whether you are a small one person business, or a corporate employee you will benefit from joining SWIB. We are very pleased to offer all SWIB members a discount on dress hire. (Information is available through the SWIB website)

This is a busy time in the dress hire calendar for Laura's Dresses as along with our regular clients hiring for balls, black ties, awards and ladies lunches, we have young ladies coming to us. They are looking forward to their prom and excitedly searching for their perfect dress. They are busily checking online to see different trends and ideas and messaging their friends to see what they are wearing. We are different as we are selective with our stock and have unique styles you wont find on the High Street and as we only have one of each dress, you won't have the nightmare of turning up at an event only to find someone else in the same dress.

Our dresses range from size 6 to size 18 with slinky and sexy to chique and elegant and everything in between. No matter whether you are petite, or tall, we have a dress for you. Why pay hundreds of pounds for a dress you will wear once for a few hours?

Check out this article from the Sunday Post why buying a gown is soo last season!

If you have a designer dress, or a mother of the bride or groom outfit that you want to sell, then why not take advantage of our Dress Agency Service?

Full details of our services can be found on our website

COVID-19 and SWIB Events

We will be taking our guidance from the government in regards to public events and the impact of COVID-19. Currently the advice is that we should host no events over 500 guests, which we will be following.

SWIB will monitor the situation daily, however we have taken the decision to postpone our March Quiz Night until the summer. We will of course postpone others should it become recommended. Obviously any cancelled or postponed events will receive full refunds.

We do urge everyone attending any events to follow sensible precautions - take the hygiene advice and please do let us know if you are feeling ill. We will treat each case individually, however it is our intention to offer refunds to anyone who is self-isolating, feeling unwell and/or has travelled from high risk areas. Please note our standard T&Cs still apply and this is in addition.

We have pinned a post to the top of our Facebook Page where everyone can share useful and helpful links. We will add in here anything we receive that are relevant. We are asking all to do the same. Should you come across anything at all that is positive and helpful - please do add here! Please keep these positive - we will monitor and remove anything that does not comply with our ethos.

SWIB's new Charity of the Year is...

... Glasgow Care Foundation.

For over 140 years, Glasgow Care Foundation has been alleviating poverty in the city, assisting families and individuals in Glasgow who cannot get help from any other agency. They're a small charity doing big things for Glasgow, with just one full time employee and two part timers.

GCF helps people in two ways: individually and by providing grants to community organisations, schools and projects. It helps some of Glasgow’s most vulnerable and needy families who cannot obtain help from any other source. This usually takes the form of provision of essential items such as washing machines, fridges, bedding, cookers and floor covering. They also support with supermarket vouchers to buy Christmas dinner and toys for their children for Christmas morning. GCF has a continuing commitment to support 100 pensioners in poor health, and also supports local community projects and, through collaboration with the Rotary Club, holidays for disadvantaged families. Each year, on average, GCF helps more than 500 families or individuals, and up to 15 organisations within the community.

GCF’s income comes from bequests, legacies and donations, and from capital investments made in earlier years. They do not receive any funding from local or national government, so swib's support can make a big difference to this small charity.

You can find out more about Glasgow Care Foundation on their website, and stay in touch with them by liking their Facebook page.
