Updated Terms & Conditions
swib has updated its terms and conditions to clarify how refunds are handled when a paid-for event is booked through Eventbrite.
Eventbrite refunds are requested through that site, and Eventbrite’s policies mean that the booking fee is deducted from the amount paid.
Accordingly, the Terms & Conditions now state:
Requesting your refund Except for events booked through Eventbrite, refunds should be requested using this form. Upon checking eligibility for a refund against our policy, Scottish Women in Business will arrange for the refund to be made based on the method of payment (e.g. card payments will be refunded onto the relevant card).
For events booked through Eventbrite, refunds should be requested using Eventbrite. If the refund is approved by SWIB, the amount refunded will be the cost of the ticket minus Eventbrite’s fees (this is Eventbrite policy).
Timescales Refunds will be made within 14 days or when an item is returned.
SWIB Awards 2019 - the winners!
Nearly 200 women attended our Scottish Women in Business Awards 2019, held on May 19th at The Principal Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow.
Hosted with insight and humour by Jane McCarry of Still Game, with fizz to accompany a delicious afternoon tea, it was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. There was great support for all the finalists as their names were read out, and then we celebrated with the winners!
Three awards were presented which recognise those women who are outstanding exampes of swib's core values: communicate, connect, collaborate:
Communicator: Jackie Lee of Artemis Scotland
Connector: Cor Hutton of Finding Your Feet
Collaborator: Elaine Sergeant of Glasgow Care Foundation
Two awards were made for special categories:
Innovator: Marian Bruce of Highland Boundary Ltd
Young Star: Nikola Kelly of Be-IT
A public vote was held to identify the winner of the Spotlight Award, a woman in the spotlight, born in Scotland or living and working in Scotland - someone whose contribution is noteworthy and inspirational.
Spotlight Award: Remzije Sherifi of Maryhill Integration
Finally, the Spirit of SWIB award was made to the swib member who has demonstrated the attributes of communicating, connecting and collaboration:
Spirit of SWIB: Heather Alexander

Trustee opportunity - Clackmannanshire Women's Aid
Clackmannanshire Women's Aid (CWA) is looking for trustees to join their board to help shape the charity's strategic direction and oversee good governance of the organisation.
Criteria
Requirements are set out in detail in the Role profile on the CWA website.
Commitment
The Board of Trustees will initially meet every 4-6 weeks, generally at the office of CWA in Alloa. Once the Board is established with new members, the intent is to reduce the frequency to quarterly meetings.
The Trustees may also meet on other occasions to discuss specific items of business or attend training. There will, from time to time, be opportunities for Trustees to join sub-groups such as Fundraising and Finance which may meet outwith the main Board meetings.
Trustees are asked for a commitment of at least one year from completion of their induction.
Remuneration
These are unpaid positions.

... on the CWA website here. This also provides the application form if you would like to apply.
Note that it is an occupational requirement that applications are open to women only, as permitted under schedule 9 of the Equalities Act 2010.
Updated privacy policy
When is data protection exciting?? Sounds unlikely...
...
but
when it's all part of our preparations for the amazing SWIB Awards 2019, that's when!
We've updated our privacy policy to make sure that the awards are covered. You'll find it here: https://www.scottishwomeninbusiness.org.uk/content/privacy/.
PS we made a few other minor tweaks as well, mostly to clarify policy around information held on suppliers and volunteers
